One of the major mistakes in bridge reduction of the nose is failure to address the entire bridge but simply rasping one part or another, leading to either a scooped nose or a "pollybeak deformity" in which the hump near the nasal tip was not sufficiently addressed. By softening her features, she looks more proportionate and feminine. Of note, her bridge height was kept at a relatively higher position so as to preserve ethnicity rather than make her look in my opinion unnatural and unaesthetic with a lower bridge given her ethnic background. Indian noses exhibit features that are an amalgam of Asian, African, and Caucasian features with predominantly more Caucasian features in most cases. This exuberant outcropping of his nose was shaved down flat and then dermabraded to create a less deformed nasal contour. Of note, I featured this technique in my book, Comprehensive Facial Rejuvenation, along with my corrective work for other surgeons' rhinophyma results. The number one error that I have observed that causes problems in nasal breathing afterward is use of lasers and hot instruments. The masculine features of a nasal hump and strong nasal tip should not be entirely removed. Like for Middle Eastern noses (regardless of gender), the nasal profile (i.e., bridge height) should be kept strong and high. Even leaving a bit of a hump (in this case the bridge was brought straight) could be considered as a viable option.
